Lowcountry Orphan Relief Truck “Lori”
The new truck, brightly painted in red, yellow and blue, was purchased from Steve Jacobs of Marathon Chevrolet who made sure that the truck was in great shape to do its job for serving the needs of abused, neglected, and abandoned children of the Charleston region.
The goal is to have “LORI” visit neighborhoods to collect for Lowcountry Orphan Relief. If you would like LORI to visit your neighborhood, please call the LOR office at 747-4099. Packaged socks and underwear and new or gently used shoes and pajamas are most needed at this time. Boxes and bags should be labeled with contents, gender and sizes.
“Let’s remember, it is wonderful for our children to see us giving back to help others so get them involved in this worthwhile project,” said Young.
This is a particularly busy time for Lowcountry Orphan Relief, where both volunteers and donations are in great demand. LOR operates solely with volunteers and 88% of all monies go directly to providing for the needs of the children. “It is tough times now for all of us but imagine how they are suffering,” Young added.
In 2009, Lowcountry Orphan Relief provided assistance to over 2,100 children.
